Precision farming

Description

Σκοπός:

The Smart Precision Agriculture system for optimizing bean cultivation within the framework of "VELOUS," which is a subproject (EE2), aims to create an intelligent ecosystem consisting of an automated management system, drone robotics, wireless autonomous energy sensors for real-time sampling, a data collection platform, data correlation with open data, data processing, analysis, and the creation of predictive models for optimizing the application of plant protection in bean crops in the Prespes region. In the end, the proposed platform provides continuous quality control and product tracking, allowing for comprehensive management.

The benefits of the VELOS ecosystem are multiple, covering the environmental, economic, and social aspects.
- Reduction of production costs through the optimization of pesticide usage

- Decreased use of pesticides through the development of a smart decision support system, reducing the environmental footprint of farming practices

- Increased profits from production through continuous quality control of the products with a tracking process
- Promotion of new innovative products in the market
- Creation of new job positions and an increase in employment in high-tech and innovation-related roles.

Project Objectives

  • Design and development of an integrated, automated, and optimized decision-making engine for pesticide application recommendations
  • Construction of a data collection and consolidation point from various sources (sensors, open data sources, images from UAV – UGV), evaluation of data, statistical analysis, and correlation analysis
  • Creation of predictive models and determination of thresholds for disease/pest risk in bean cultivation
  • Development of machine learning algorithms and forecasting to support decision-making
  • Creation of a user-friendly application for farmers.
